SOUTHERN FORESTS
IRRIGATION SCHEME
981. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to the media statement
issued by the minister on 9 December 2017, promoting water sales by SF
Irrigation Co-operative Ltd for the southern forests irrigation scheme, and the
sales document issued in December 2017 with a state government logo on it
stating —
WATER SALES OFFICE
There will be a water sales office
open from Tuesday, 9 January 2018.
Department of Primary Industries
and Regional Development, Agriculture and Food Research Centre, South West
Highway, Manjimup
Opening hours:
 12 pm to 3 pm
(1) Did the
minister approve the use of a state government department building as the
location for commercial sales by SF Irrigation Co-operative Ltd?
(2) Did the
minister inquire whether SF Irrigation Co-operative Ltd had development
approval from the Shire of Manjimup to conduct commercial and industrial
development, as required by the shire?
(3) What is the
status of the Shire of Manjimup's development approval for SF
Irrigation Co-operative Ltd to conduct the southern forests irrigation scheme?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for the question.
The answer I have states that it is
for parts (1) to (3), but it actually covers only parts (1) and (2). I will
undertake to get the member more information on part (3).
(1)–(2) The
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has many industry
collaborations and provides accommodation for non-government entities as part
of its industry facilitation role. The use of the available office space to
support SF Irrigation Co-operative Ltd during its establishment phase is
consistent with that purpose and was approved by the responsible regional
director.
