KIMBERLEY —
UNEXPECTED OR SUSPICIOUS DEATHS
442. Hon JON FORD to the Minister for Justice:
In the Kimberley region in the past five years —
(1) How many unexpected or suspicious deaths have been
referred to the coroner?
(2) How have these deaths been characterised by the coroner?

AnswerView source ↗

I answer on behalf of the Minister for Justice. I thank the
member for some notice of this question.
(1)–(2)
The answer to this question requires considerable research by a statistical
officer and the interrogation of the coroner's case management system.
Due to these circumstances the question is unable to be answered in the
allocated time frame. It is requested that the question be placed on notice and
that clarification be given on whether the term ''unexpected or
suspicious death'' refers to deaths by suicide or also includes death by
homicide and/or includes death due to unknown causes at the time of death.
