TREE DEATHS — JOONDALUP AND STIRLING
I refer to the answer given to question without notice 196 on 11 March 2009. (1) Is the investigation by the Department of Environment and Conservation into tree deaths in Joondalup and Stirling now complete? (2) If yes to (1), what were the results? (3) If no to (1), what remains to be done for the investigation to be completed, and when will the investigation be completed? Hon DONNA FARAGHER

I thank the member for some notice of this question. May I preface my comments by saying that this has been a very long-running issue, but I am pleased to say — (1) Yes, it has been completed. (2) The investigation was extensive and involved gathering a large quantity of information. The investigation file is now being assessed by the Department of Environment and Conservation to determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a prosecution. When DEC has completed its assessment, I would be pleased to inform the member directly. (3) Not applicable.
