ROE
HIGHWAY STAGE 8 — EXTENSION — STOCK ROAD
716. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Premier:
My question without notice is to the
Premier; Acting Minister for Transport. I refer to the assertions —
Mr
C.J. Barnett : No, I am not.
Mr
M. McGOWAN : So the Premier is not the Acting Minister for Transport?
Mr
C.J. Barnett : You can ask me, but I am not.
Mr
M. McGOWAN : Who is?
The
SPEAKER : Ask your question anyway.
Mr
C.J. Barnett : It is not me, but you can ask me.
Mr
M. McGOWAN : I am sorry, Mr Speaker; my advice was that the Premier is the
acting transport minister.
Mr
C.J. Barnett : You can ask me as Premier. Work out your question.
The
SPEAKER : Just ask your question.
Mr
M. McGOWAN : So there is no acting transport minister?
The
SPEAKER : Ask your question.
Mr
C.J. Barnett interjected.
Mr
M. McGOWAN : Who is?
Several members interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Willagee, I call you to order now for the second time.
Right; question to the Premier.
Mr
C.J. Barnett : To the Premier is okay.
Mr
M. McGOWAN : Just for clarification, who is the acting transport minister?
The
SPEAKER : Unfortunately, I have not been told who the acting transport
minister is. If you want to ask the Premier a question, I suggest you do it.
Mr C.J. Barnett :
You don't know what's going on, do you?
Mr M. McGOWAN :
Just so we are now clear, the state does not have a transport minister, an
agriculture minister or, a local government minister or a person acting in any
of those roles. My question without notice is to the Premier.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : That
is enough.
Mr C.J. Barnett :
Have you sorted it out now? Carry on.
Mr M. McGOWAN : How
hopeless are you?
Mr C.J. Barnett : I
know who's who in the zoo!
Mr M. McGOWAN : You
are irrational.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Premier, I call you to order for the first time. I am not going to repeat
myself. If you want to ask a question, just get up and ask it.
Mr M. McGOWAN : I am
trying, Mr Speaker. My question without notice is to the Premier. I refer to
the assertions of the former Minister for Transport that currently the Roe 8
project, as approved by cabinet, will not reach Stock Road.
(1) Did the
former transport minister provide this advice to the Premier because the tunnel
component of Perth Freight Link, sections 1 and 2, is required to be
constructed simultaneously?
(2) Given that
the Premier has decided to pursue only the Roe 8 component as his priority,
where will the Roe 8 project end and what is the expected increase to connect
to Stock Road?

(1)–(2) The simple answer is that the Roe 8 contract
will be amended to go through from —
Ms R. Saffioti :
Amended!
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
The Roe 8 contract is being amended to go through from the freeway to Stock
Road, including the Stock Road interchange.
