REAL ESTATE AND BUSINESS AGENTS SUPERVISORY BOARD, REVIEW
I refer to the forthcoming review of the Real Estate and Business Agents Supervisory Board. Will the minister guarantee that this review includes - (a) the purposes for which the education and general purposes fund can be used; (b) the eligibility criteria for assistance from the homebuyers assistance fund; (c) the effectiveness of the consumer protection function in the fidelity guarantee fund; and (d) the suitability of the board as a forum for customer complaints? Mr KOBELKE

(a)-(d) A range of boards exist across government, and a particularly large number are in my portfolio, which will be subject to reviews next year. Some of those are part of the machinery of government, and some would be initiated anyway through statutory reviews. Reviews in both those areas will be running together. Listening as closely as I could to the four parts of the member’s question, I assume the first, third and fourth parts are included in that part of my answer. I am not sure about the second question referring to an actual fund. That will be taken on board when the review is done. I listened as carefully as I could, and I am pretty sure that, except for the second point, those points will be part of the terms of reference. I will consider whether the second point can also be included as a term of reference for that review.
