This question relates to the reduction in staff of the specialist police domestic violence team in the Joondalup area. (1) Why have four of the seven police officers employed in this area been moved to general operations? (2) How will the specialist police domestic violence team maintain its current charge rate of 39 per cent of domestic violence cases in the Joondalup district, compared with seven per cent in two other districts, when its staff has been cut by almost half? (3) Will the minister direct the Police Service to return the officers to the unit so that they can continue their excellent work? (4) If no to (3), why not? (5) Can the minister ensure that the lives of women and children will not be put at risk by the reduction of police resources to fight domestic violence? Hon TOM STEPHENS
