Nicheliving—Plumbing defects
869. Hon Julie Freeman to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Commerce:
I refer to former
Nicheliving customers, including Kathy Ellis, who have endured years of financial
and emotional distress due to the Cook Labor government's failure to act
swiftly against the company. Many are now facing substandard work completed
before handover, including serious plumbing failures, causing tens of thousands
of dollars in damage.
(1) Has the minister been made aware of any
further plumbing issues affecting former Nicheliving homes and, if so, what is
the financial quantum of the problem?
(2) How many rectification notices have been
issued by Building and Energy in relation to these plumbing defects?
(3) What action has the government taken to ensure
that affected home owners, many of whom have been left with unsafe or
unhabitable homes, are not forced to bear the cost of this company's failures?
