GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS —
SUBCONTRACTORS — BRIERTY LTD
780. Hon KATE DOUST to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to reports in The Weekend West on Saturday, 23 July 2016,
and The West Australian on 22 June 2016
regarding Brierty Ltd facing profit shortfalls, a project loss on the North
West Coastal Highway upgrade, and a share price slump.
(1) Is the minister assured that all
subcontractors have been paid for work undertaken on BriertyXXX ###XXXs
WA government roads projects?
(2) If no to (1), who is yet to be paid and
will the government intervene and ensure that all subcontractors will be paid
for works completed?

I thank the member for some notice of this
question.
(1) The minister is assured that when
payments are made to Brierty Contractors by Main Roads, subcontractors and
suppliers are being paid. At any point in time there will be subcontractors who
have completed work but have not been paid. This may be in accordance with
agreed terms of trade with the contractor.
(2) Not applicable.
