ANIMAL WELFARE —
CATTLE — GOLDFIELDS
514. Hon RICK MAZZA to the Minister for Agriculture and Food:
Can
the minister advise whether she is aware of any recent animal welfare issues
emerging on a southern rangelands station that has required an intervention
by Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development staff?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for that
question.
My department was notified of a potential
issue at a station in the goldfields area and it attended that site and saw
problems. We are not talking about a huge number of cattle. It has taken action
to work with the proprietors of the station. I understand that now a contract
musterer has been engaged and we expect that muster to be completed by the end
of next week.
