NATIONAL
PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTS EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
582. Hon SUE ELLERY to the
Minister for Education:
I refer to the expiring National Partnership
Agreement on Universal Access to Early Childhood Education, which includes
Indigenous Early Childhood Development National Partnership: Element I.
(1) Did the
Western Australian government formally advise the commonwealth Treasurer by the
end of September 2013 whether these national partnerships should continue to be
funded or lapse?
(2) If yes to (1), what did the
Western Australian government advise?

Was this question asked of the
Premier?
Hon Sue Ellery : There was one to the minister as well.
Hon PETER COLLIER : Is it question without notice C611?
Hon Sue Ellery : It is question without notice C610 but it
is the same question so hopefully the answer will be the same.
Hon PETER COLLIER : I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question.
(1) Yes, it did.
(2) The Western
Australian government advised the Australian government that if funding for the
national partnerships is not extended, the ongoing provision of services and
reforms initiated through the national partnerships in Western Australia will
not be able to continue in its current form.
I add that this was an agenda item
at the last Standing Council on School Education and Early Childhood meeting
and suffice to say it was a very robust discussion.
