(2) The submission from the Binningup Primary Steering Committee has been reviewed, but the proposal to establish an interim 'school–in-houses' is not supported at the present time. (3) The proposal to establish a school-in-houses in Binningup is not supported at present because students resident in Binningup have access to Parkfield Primary School, a fully developed school in Australind. A new school is generally established when: · the number of students resident within the area served by an existing school exceeds the number of student places available at that school; · a viable number of students are expected to attend a new school. It is anticipated that Parkfield Primary School will have relatively stable enrolments in the near future. The school will require a small number of transportable classrooms. Students resident in Binningup will be able to be accommodated at Parkfield Primary School for the foreseeable future. (4) The positive impact that any school has on its community is recognised, however, the Department of Education must effectively manage its resources and in doing so responds to residential growth at the time that it can support a viable, permanent school.
