Hon. Anthony Fels questions the police response time and inability to locate the Rowe family at Sunset Beach after a brawl, despite arriving at the same time a call for help was made. The Minister's response indicates the Rowe family and the caller had already left the scene by the time police arrived.

GERALDTON POLICE — DEATH OF WILLIAM ROWE
I refer to the answer provided yesterday to question without notice 34 about the police response at Sunset Beach in Geraldton on Christmas night 2007, which reads, in part — At 2055 hours the next call was received by Police advising them of the brawl at Sunset Beach which is the same time that the police arrived at Sunset Beach. A search of the area failed to locate any members of the Rowe family . . . How is it possible for the police to arrive at Sunset Beach at the same time as a call for help was being made to the Geraldton Police Station, yet fail to locate the incident? Hon JON FORD

I thank the member for some notice of this question. The Minister for Police and Emergency Services has provided the following response — The caller at 2055 hours was not with the Rowe family, and had departed from the scene. When police arrived at 2055 hours, the Rowe family had already departed from the car park and were en route to Geraldton Regional Hospital. Police spoke to persons at the car park, but the victims and the caller had already departed.
