LATE-NIGHT TRAINS — PASSENGER NUMBERS
118. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the Minister for
Transport:
I have a supplementary question. The
minister told the public that he could not rely on the PTA to count actual
people on actual trains. How can he rely on any of the PTA's figures
when making decisions such as cancelling the Ellenbrook rail line, cancelling the Ellenbrook bus rapid
transit line, and pushing out the Metro Area Express light rail? How can the
minister rely on any of the PTA's figures?

Girrawheen, I call you to order for the first time. Member for Albany, you are
lucky that I am not calling you to order for the second time.
Mr
D.C. NALDER : I never said that I could not rely on the PTA. In fact, the
PTA is doing a sensational job. We have increased public transport bus capacity
around this state by 22 per cent. In more than eight years of the previous Labor government, it increased public transport capacity on
buses by only eight per cent. The PTA is delivering this, and it is doing a
fantastic job. It is doing a sensational job. There was an issue about the
late-night trains, and that issue has been dealt with.
