CORRUPTION AND CRIME
COMMISSION — NORTH METROPOLITAN HEALTH SERVICE —GRANT ALEXANDER
1346. Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN to the Leader of the House
representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the corruption issues at
North Metropolitan Health Service and the claims by the Attorney General, as
reported in The West Australian of 5 September 2018, that he wanted Mr
Grant Alexander to return to Perth to face justice and was seeking legal
advice.
(1) Has the Attorney General
received the legal advice; and, if so, when and from whom?
(2) Has the
Attorney General sought to have Mr Alexander return to Perth to face justice;
and, if so, when and by what means has he done so?
(3) Has Mr
Alexander returned to Perth; and, if not, why not?
(4) What actions
are being taken against Mr Alexander and what is their status?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) On
4 September 2018, the day the Attorney General made the remarks to which the
member refers, the legal firm acting for Mr Grant Alexander contacted the
Attorney General to advise that its client was prepared to return to WA at any
time to assist in the investigation into the North Metropolitan Health Service.
The Attorney General passed this correspondence to the WA Police Force, which
advised the Attorney General on 6 September
2018 that WA Police Force officers had made contact with Mr Alexander's legal representatives, and arrangements were being made to facilitate
investigative actions in relation to Mr Alexander. At that point, it became an
operational matter for the WA Police Force.
