STRAYING STOCK — WORKING GROUP
I refer to the minister’s answer to question 120 that I asked yesterday. As I raised this matter with the minister’s office last year and given that there was a serious accident between a vehicle and straying livestock on Goldfields Highway only two weeks ago — (1) Will the minister now direct his department to establish this working group before the end of the month? (2) Will local members of Parliament be invited to take part in the deliberations of the working group? Hon SIMON O’BRIEN

I thank the honourable member for notice of the question. Main Roads WA advises — (1) Main Roads Western Australia is currently establishing the working group and it is expected that the inaugural meeting will be held in May. (2) Members of the public, including local members of Parliament, will have an opportunity to provide input to the working group. I will just offer the member some advice. If there is some element related to this matter that is of further urgency, I think there is a need for her to communicate directly with the Minister for Transport before then. I will see whether I can facilitate that contact happening.
