(1) Following a tender process, the Office of Road Safety engaged a consultant to:
conduct an analysis of current Australian and international activity, research and literature in relation to best practice in speed enforcement strategies and technology;
develop recommendations on the implementation of best practice in speed enforcement specifically for the WA setting; and
develop a detailed implementation plan in order to move from the current situation to what has been recommended.
(2) Dr Max Cameron from the Monash University Accident Research Centre, which is one of the leading road safety research organisations in Australia, undertook the review. Dr Cameron is an internationally recognised expert in the field of research into the effectiveness of speed cameras. Dr Cameron submitted his report in September 2006.
