❓ Hon Dr Brian Walker inquired about Western Australia's solar power generation compared to France's car park solar canopy mandate, and whether WA would consider a similar approach. The Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation provided data on WA's solar capacity but did not directly address the mandate proposal.

Solar power generation
504. Hon Dr Brian Walker to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
I refer the minister
to a recent announcement by the French government that it has, in the last
three years, unlocked at least 11 gigawatts of solar power, the equivalent of
the output of 10 nuclear power stations, by requiring that all car parks with
more than eighty spaces are to be covered by solar canopies.
(1) How much additional power has Western
Australia unlocked via solar in the same three-year period?
(2) Will the government consider
mandating a similar approach to large car park spaces here in Western Australia
and, if not, why not?
