I refer to crisis accommodation in the South West, and I ask: (a) how many people in the South West accessed crisis accommodation provided or funded by the Department for Child Protection and Family Support (DCPaFS) in each of 2014-15 and 2015-16 to date; (b) how many people in the South West sought crisis accommodation provided or funded by the DCPaFS but were turned away due to a lack of availability in each of 2014-15 and 2015-16 to date; (c) how many new crisis accommodation beds were provided in the South West in each of 2014-15 and 2015-16 to date; and (d) where were these beds provided?

(a) Specialist Homelessness Services funded by the Department for Child Protection and Family Support in the South West reported in:
· 2014-15, an estimated 350 people were provided with 373 episodes of accommodation;
· 2015-16 data will not be available from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare until November 2016.
(b) Specialist Homelessness Services funded by the Department for Child Protection and Family Support in the South West reported in:
· 2014-15, 135 instances of requests for accommodation where no accommodation was provided at the time of the request.
People who could not be accommodated may have been provided with other support such as:
o Information or referral to another service or to the Crisis Care Unit as an after hours service.
o In the case of family and domestic violence, referral to the Department or the Crisis Care Unit to assist with purchased overnight accommodation where the client is at risk.
o Some clients may have subsequently been accommodated by the service at a later date or accommodated by another service.
(c) - (d) There are five services in the South West providing crisis accommodation for 12 individuals and 13 families at any one time. Tuart House was the most recent facility to be operational, opening in March 2014.
