I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The Building
Commission will partner with a range of government and industry organisations
to increase the information resources available on the Construction Contracts
Act 2006, including the Small Business Development Corporation and other works
agencies. The Building Commission will also use its website and regular
industry bulletins and newsletters to increase awareness of the Construction
Contracts Act.
(2) (a) Information
sessions will be provided by the Building Commission in conjunction with
industry specialists. The Building Commission has recently sent out an
expression of interest to a range of industry specialists. The expression of
interest closes on 26 August 2016, following which a competitive evaluation
will be undertaken, and the development and delivery of information sessions
will commence.
(b) The
information provided will include using the Construction Contracts Act to
resolve payment disputes as well as best practices in contract management.
(c) This is to be
determined following the competitive evaluation of any expressions of interest
received. It is expected that the sessions will be held in both metropolitan
and regional locations.
(d) The
information sessions will be advertised through the Building Commission's
extensive industry distribution list, digital media, and any third party
providers.
(3) The Building
Commission currently has a budget allocated for print and media advertising,
and funds required to promote industry awareness of the Construction Contracts
Act will be drawn from this budget.
