ASSESSMENT — MINISTER'S COMMENTS
1427. Hon LOUISE KINGSTON to the Minister for Forestry:
I refer to the minister's
contribution to the debate of the motion on notice 8 November 2023, ''Select
committee on native timber industry closure impact assessment'', and her
comment —
I brought in a number of scientific

I am happy to
table a template in due course; I do not have it with me now.

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) I table the reports —

the climate 2020 ;
(b) the CSIRO's State of
the climate 2022 ;
(c) Climate change: Impacts and
adaptation for agriculture in Western Australia ; and
(d) Western Australian climate
projections: Summary .
(2) The standard template language
I referred to is as follows —
''In
September 2021, the Government made the decision to end commercial logging.in
our unique WA native forests. Continued exploitation of our native
forests focused on sawlog production is not environmentally, socially, or
economically viable.
Following the historic decision to
end native forest logging, the Cook Labor Government is supporting regional
communities through our $80 million Native Forestry Transition creating and
supporting sustainable jobs in the South-West.''
