FREMANTLE PORT — CONTAINER CAPACITY
382. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the Minister for TransportXXX ###XXXs comment on radio last week regarding
container capacity at Fremantle port that in talks with DP World and Patrick
they believe with technology they can improve capacity even further, which may
extend it another five years or so.
What does the minister believe will be the ultimate container
capacity, in twenty-foot equivalent units, at Fremantle port with this improved
technology?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
The ultimate capacity will depend on what technology is
employed by the container terminal operators, and that is yet to be determined.
