In relation to mining operations at Windimurra Station, Mt Magnet - (1) Is the minister aware of the difficulties that have been experienced by the lessees of Windimurra Station due to mining operations being carried out on the property by Vanadium Australia Pty Ltd? (2) Is the minister aware that Vanadium Australia has now effectively forced the lessees to hire legal representation and an expensive "expert witness" to appear on its behalf in the Warden's Court, even though that is clearly beyond the station's means? (3) In recognition of the apparently poor relationship that now exists between the two parties, which seems to preclude effective and amicable negotiation, does the Minister for Mines have any options available to him that might help to resolve those longstanding issues? Hon N.F. MOORE

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) I am informed that the Department of Minerals and Energy has been investigating the complaints of the pastoralist and is aware of the associated legal action taking place. (2)-(3) As the matter is before the court, it would be inappropriate for me to intervene.
