MINISTER FOR
TRANSPORT — FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENTS
589. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Regional Development:
My question is to the parliamentary secretary representing
the Minister for Regional Development and the Leader of the National Party. I
refer to the announcement by the Minister for Transport since the last state
budget of $80 million for the Aubin Grove railway station, $8 million for
improvements to the intersection of Reid Highway and Lord Street, and $15 million
for works at the intersection of Roe Highway and Berkshire Road.
(1) Are these formal commitments of the Liberal–National
government?
(2) Does the National Party support all these proposals?
(3) Does the
leader of the National Party expect that the cost of each of these proposals
will be included in the 2012–13 midyear review of state finances due to
be released in December 2012?
(4) If no to (3), why not?
The PRESIDENT : A couple of sections of that
question are out of order. Hon Ken
Travers cannot ask a member a question in their capacity as a member of
a political party. Hon Ken Travers is asking the parliamentary secretary a
question in a representative capacity of the Minister for Regional Development
in the other house. As I understood the question, it seems to relate more to
the Minister for Transport rather than the Minister for Regional Development.
The parliamentary secretary may have an answer that might enlighten us.

On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Regional Development, I provide the following response —
(1)–(4)
Questions to the Leader of the National Party contravene standing order 103.
The announcements the member refers to in this question fall under the
responsibility of the Minister for Transport and questions relating to these
matters should be directed to the Minister for Transport for a response.
