(a) No I am not aware of how many dwellings are currently located on Lots 360 and 361. I am informed that the Department of Lands (DoL) and previous Ministers had been made aware of people squatting on Lots 360 and 361 and the existence of dwellings on the lots. I understand that this matter has a long history and to the best of the Department's knowledge, I am advised that the matter was raised with the then Minister for Planning and Infrastructure the Hon Alannah MacTiernan in June 2007 by the Kimberley Land Council. Further, the Shire of Halls Creek advised the previous Minister for Lands, the Hon Brendon Grylls of the dwellings in December 2010.
(b) I am informed that a broader planning process is underway for Halls Creek being driven by the Shire, including a public comment period, which will provide guidance for this site. DoL will continue to work with all stakeholders on the complex issues of the site to resolve land tenure issues.
