CONSUMER PROTECTION DIVISION — BUNNINGS SMART SPACE HOUSE
1090. Hon KATE DOUST to the Minister for
Commerce:
I
refer to the two emails sent to the minister and copied to me with the subject
line ''Serious electrical issues with Bunnings Smart Space house''
and ''Bunnings Smart Space house—Non-compliant Glazing in WA
& Far North QLD''.
(1) Are the
claims made in the emails being investigated; and, if so, by whom?
(2) Has the
Department of Commerce liaised with other states where the product is sold to
determine whether consumers in other states have made complaints, or if the
issues raised have multi‑jurisdictional implications?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes, the
claims are being investigated by the Department of Commerce's Consumer
Protection Division in liaison with other relevant divisions of the Department
of Commerce.
(2) The Consumer
Protection Division has not liaised with other states in regard to issues thus
far raised by this complainant. However, a thorough search of the
interjurisdictional information sharing platform for Australian consumer
affairs regulators reveals no similar complaints about this product.
