To access CWLB funds for patient activity the following must be in place: 1. The patient must be on an existing public waiting list – this includes public patients at both the Peel and Joondalup Health Campus's. 2. The patients must be eligible for elective surgery in accordance with the National Health Data dictionary standards – all hospitals have access to this standard on the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare web site. 3. Patients need to be over the boundary for category 2 or 3 in accordance with the above mentioned standards. 4. The CWLB may direct patients to the Peel Health Campus or the Peel Health Campus can access the Bureau, by submitting details of patients that meet the above-mentioned criteria. This is an electronic process whereby funding approval can take place within 24 hours providing all relevant patient information has been given to the CWLB at the initial point of contact. This process allows for ratification that the patients are eligible for funding which precludes double payment. This process has been in place for nearly four years and all hospitals/health services that have waitlist data collections, have been able to manage this process without difficulty.
