I thank
the honourable member for some notice of this question, and on behalf of the
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Justice, I provide the following
response —
(1) A business
case outlining the anticipated cost of a number of options arising out of the
submissions has been prepared and the feasibility of implementing the various
options was under consideration by the former Attorney General. The department
is currently collating further information as requested by the former Attorney
General to supplement the business case.
(2) If and
when it is decided that changes should be made to current JP arrangements,
those changes will be publicly announced.
(3) Remuneration for travel expenses was included in the
discussion paper and views sought.
