I refer to the Southern Inland Health Initiative and ask for the town of Beacon: (a) of the doctors currently recruited under the Southern Inland Health Initiative, how many have been posted to Beacon; (b) are there any doctors that are undergoing their initial assessment for the Southern Inland Health Initiative but not yet fully recruited that have either been earmarked or stated a preference to be posted to Beacon; and (c) if yes to (b), how many?

(a) The Southern Inland Health Initiative (SIHI), as part of the WA Country Health Service (WACHS), does not actually employ private sector General Practitioners (GPs).
- SIHI provides financial incentive packages to suitable qualified and credentialed GPs to attract and retain them in country areas. These packages are negotiated on a case by case contractual basis as part of the GP Medical Service Agreement (MSA).
- It should also be noted that the existing GPs, those previously living and working in the communities now in the SIHI catchment, are also eligible to receive SIHI incentives for providing GP services that include:
- Aboriginal health and primary health care clinics.
- Participating on the roster for the emergency department at the local district hospital.
- Participating as a procedural GP at the local district hospital.
- 83 GPs are signed on to SIHI to receive one or some of the above incentives as part of their MSA across the SIHI catchment. They are based at the following sites:
SIHI Network Town
Collie
Dongara
Esperance
Leonora/Laverton
Kalbarri
Katanning
Meekatharra
Merredin
Moora
Morawa
Narrogin
Northam
Warren Blackwood
(b) No.
(c) Not applicable.
