HEARSON COVE, BURRUP PENINSULA
I refer to responses given by the minister to appeals on the level of assessment of temporary offloading ramp and associated roadworks, Hearson Cove, on the Burrup Peninsular and ask - (1) Does the minister stand by her advice to Syntroleum that if the Mermaid Marine facility is operational within the timeframe required by the Syntroleum project, the Mermaid Marine facility should be considered as a preferred option? (2) As the Mermaid Marine facility is now operational, does the minister believe there is any further reason for duplicating its activities by the proposed construction of a temporary offloading ramp? (3) In the light of the availability of the Mermaid Marine facility for Syntroleum to use, will the minister withdraw her permission granted for the temporary offloading ramp and associated roadworks, Hearson Cove, Burrup Peninsular? (4) If no to part 3, why not? Hon TOM STEPHENS

I ask that the question be placed on notice as the minister is seeking further information from local government and other agencies seeking confirmation of the status of Mermaid Marine’s upgrade and enforcement of commitments made by the proponent through other regulatory processes.
