991. Hon RICK MAZZA to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the Beverley Health Service, formerly Beverley
Hospital.
(1) How many beds does the Beverly Health Service have?
(2) Of those, how many are currently open?
(3) How many
full-time equivalent medical staff are currently working at the Beverly Health
Service, and in what capacity?
(4) Is there immediate access to emergency services at the
Beverley Health Service?
(5) If yes to (4), in what form are emergency services
available?
(6) On how
many occasions and in what circumstances have those who have required emergency
care been airlifted to other hospitals from the Beverley Health Service?

question.
(1)–(2)
Beverley Health Service has 19 open beds, defined as beds that are currently
being used or are immediately available for use. This includes eight multi-day
beds and Alex Miles Frail Aged Lodge Hostel, Beverley, which has 11 residential
beds.
(3) There are
three visiting medical officers and 11.19 full-time equivalent nursing staff.
(4) Yes.
Beverley Health Service has a 24/7 emergency department service.
(5) Nursing
staff triage patients on arrival and initiate assessment and treatment,
including escalating care to the medical officers, emergency telehealth
service, or consultation by videoconference to Northam Hospital emergency
department.
(6) For the period 1 July 2014 to 16 September 2015,
there were 12 airlifted evacuations from Beverley Health Service's
emergency department as patients required transfer to a metropolitan hospital.
