The term “code yellow” refers to an internal emergency in a hospital and is a trigger to activate a response. A Code Yellow emergency can be called for a range of issues including infrastructure issues (including ICT issues related to patient care), chemical spills, environmental factors (i.e. severe weather), capacity issues or missing patients.
A Code Yellow notification does not mean Emergency Departments are not able to accept additional patients.
