MUNDARING
WATER TREATMENT PLANT
593. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
minister representing the Minister for Water:
I refer to the recently opened water treatment plant in
Mundaring.
(1) In the 12
months prior to the commencement of construction, was any community
consultation undertaken regarding the plant's placement?
(2) If yes to (1), when and with whom?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1) The
construction of the Mundaring Weir water treatment plant commenced in October
2011. In the 12 months prior to the construction of the plant, community
consultation was undertaken.
(2) The community
consultation that occurred in the 12 months prior to construction was with the
Mundaring Community Reference Group at four meetings and with the Mundaring
Community Representative Group at their quarterly meetings.
The Mundaring Community Reference
Group comprises local residents. The Mundaring Community Representative Group
comprises representatives of the Department of Environment Regulation, the
National Trust of Australia, the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council, the
Mundaring Chamber of Commerce, the Shires of Mundaring and Kalamunda, and local
residents and businesses.
