(b) WA Police is aware of brothels operating in Kalgoorlie however the number and extent of brothels operating in Regional WA is not known.
(2) No, complete records are not held. Details are obtained and recorded where possible during Police visits to brothels.
(3) Yes. All brothels within WA operate contrary to Section 190 of the Criminal Code.
(i) In January 2004 emanating from the failed Kenworthy prosecution and other factors, Barry Matthews, former Commissioner of Police determined WA Police would not continue to police brothels under the provisions of either the
Criminal Code
or the
Police Act 1892
.
