(1) I refer to the use of repurposed residential accommodation as the Music and Drama classrooms at Denmark Senior High School, and I ask: (a) Has the Department of Education conducted an assessment of these facilities against the minimum design standards for secondary Arts learning areas; and (b) If yes, will the Minister table the findings of the February 2022 review undertaken by the Department’s Principal Consultant, Capital Works and Maintenance? (2) I refer to the reports of ongoing mould issues within the music and performing arts building at Denmark Senior High School, and I ask: (a) On what dates were assessments conducted by Aurora Environmental at the school; (b) Will the Minister table copies of the reports arising from these assessments ; (c) What specific actions were undertaken following each report; and (d) Did the Department receive confirmation at any time that the remediation actions undertaken had fully removed the health risk associated with mould exposure in these facilities? (3) Noting that Denmark Senior High School received $77,745 under the Maintenance Blitz Program, and that remedial works have occurred on multiple occasions, and I ask: (a) What is the total expenditure by the Department of Education and Building Management and Works on mould-related works at the site since 2020; (b) Has any independent confirmation been received that mould has been successfully remediated; and (c) Has the Department considered relocation or replacement of the Music and Drama classrooms due to recurrent health concerns ? (4) I refer to the school's internal infrastructure review, which identified approximately $12 million in capital works needs, and I ask: (a) Does the Department acknowledge this figure as a reasonable estimate to achieve facility parity with comparable secondary schools; and (b) Has the school been included in any future capital works planning or budget bids for new Arts facilities: (i) If not, why not? (5) I refer to the unsuccessful 2024 application by Denmark Senior High School to the Federal Government for infrastructure funding, and I ask: (a) On what dates were assessments conducted by Aurora Environmental at the school; (b) Will the Minister table copies of the reports arising from these assessments; (c) What specific actions were undertaken following each report ; and (d) Did the Department receive confirmation at any time that the remediation actions undertaken had fully removed the health risk associated with mould exposure in these facilities?

1 (a) – (b) The drama and music facilities at Denmark Senior High School were inspected in 2022, but a full detailed assessment for new facilities was not undertaken. The information gathered will be used to inform future future planning decisions for the school.
2 (a) March 2022 and July 2025.
(b) - (d) The Department has progressed recommendations of the two assessments. Remediation completed or underway includes the provision of sub-floor ventilation, increased gutter cleaning, vegetation clearing, drainage upgrades, weather proofing, stormwater investigation, high-level cleaning, increased ventilation and the installation of dehumidifiers, with further works ongoing. The Department will continue to monitor the building.
