The Minister for Justice has provided the following response - The Department of Justice advises that census files with detailed sentencing information are run on the last day of the month. With this in mind, information is provided for 29 February 2004. (1) Ten women were in custody for non-payment of fines. (2) It represents 4.37 per cent of the female prison population. (3) Bandyup Women’s Prison, seven; Broome Regional Prison, one; and Nyandi Prison, two.
