Speaker, I would like to acknowledge the students and staff from St Mary Star
of the Sea, Carnarvon, who are joining us in the gallery today.
The SPEAKER : Where, can I add,
my husband went to school.
Ms M. BEARD : He was lucky.
The SPEAKER : He was very
lucky. Growing up in Carnarvon was fantastic.
Ms

implementation of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act. The Carnarvon
horticultural district sits within an
existing registered Aboriginal cultural site, with around one-third of the
impacted growers on the river being of Vietnamese descent, which I noted in my
correspondence to the minister on this matter last week.
(1) Will the minister guarantee a Vietnamese
interpreter will be in attendance?
(2) Will the minister be providing
written information in languages other than English?

is a pretty good question. Is the member asking me whether we are also
providing interpreters for Aboriginal languages or is the question just about
non-Aboriginal languages? Would she be interested in that as well?
The question of having a Vietnamese
interpreter was brought to my attention last week. I have asked the department
to look into that. We hope to have an interpreter there for the workshop.
