MAIN ROADS — DATA COLLECTION
1143. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the Auditor General's
twenty-fifth report of 14 June 2023, which states —
despite being aware they are not
permitted to, MRWA has continued to collect anonymous data from local road
users under the Surveillance Devices Regulations 1999.
(1) When did the
Corruption and Crime Commission first become aware of the report?
(2) Is the CCC
aware that the Minister for Transport has been unable or unwilling to assure
the house that Main Roads WA is now complying with the regulations?
(3) Is the CCC
aware that the Minister for Police has been unwilling to advise the house about
whether the Western Australia Police Force has ever sought or accessed that
data?
(4) Has the CCC
taken any steps to investigate the prima facie misuse of information or
material by MRWA and/or the WA Police Force?
