(1) Westrail employs 491 freight locomotive operators and 14 freight locomotive trainees (as at 9 August 2000). (2) All Westrail freight locomotive operators have been issued with track access permits which accredit operators to work at a particular competency level on the Westrail network. This accreditation forms part of Westrail's Rail Safety Management Plan which has been accredited under the WA Rail Safety Act 1998. (3) Not applicable.
