CORRUPTION AND CRIME
COMMISSION —NORTH METROPOLITAN HEALTH SERVICE — MISCONDUCT —
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE
560. Mr S.K. L'ESTRANGE to the Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question. The
indictment is on those who are found to be corrupt. What immediate action has
the minister taken to ensure that corruption of procurement contracts is not
currently occurring in other areas of the health department?

As we know, these actions took place
long before I came to the role of Minister for Health, but I have made sure
that we now have policies and procedures in place, as the CCC observed, to make
sure that this does not happen. As the member would be aware, the Attorney
General has initiated action to retrieve any moneys where possible and to make
sure we are on our guard. Also, we will stop at nothing in pursuing these
individuals who conspired to defraud the state of Western Australia and to
betray the trust that not only their colleagues had in them, but that all
people in Western Australia had in them, as members of our health public
service.
