(d) does the Department believe that the community housing needs of the Great Southern are being met; and

The Department of Housing advises:
(a) Through the Community Housing Programs area, Great Southern Community Housing Association has received grants for 15 units (1 in Denmark and 14 in Albany) as follows:
As at 30 November 2009:
· 8 properties have either settled or are awaiting settlement;
· 1 property is being negotiated with the seller;
· 2 lots are being purchased to construct 2 units;
· Currently searching for 2 lots to purchase to construct 2 units;
· Currently searching for 2 properties to purchase; and
A further 8 units are currently being constructed, which were approved in 2008.
Great Southern Housing Association also has three projects, totalling 28 units, funded under the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan Stage 2.
Those projects are:
· Barnesby Rd, Albany, 13 dwellings (1 and 2 bedroom houses);
· Minor Rd and Katoomba Rd, Orana, 12 dwellings (2 and 3 bedroom units); and
· Lakeside at McKail, Albany , 3 dwellings, (2 and 3 bedroom houses).
(b) Great Southern Housing Association has been unsuccessful with two projects submitted through the Expression of Interest Process for the State and Commonwealth Economic Stimulus Package.
Those projects are:
· Federal St, Karlgarin, 4 dwellings, (2 and 3 bedroom units); and
· Cnr Melaleuca Lane and Zimmerman Street, Denmark, 3 dwellings, (2 bedroom units).
(c) There is demand for additional social housing across the entire state.
(i) Not applicable
(d) Due to the nature of social housing, there will always be demand at any given point in time.
