1. Three national parks have been created since September 2008. These are:
- Dirk Hartog Island National Park, with an area of 629.28 square kilometres or 62 928 hectares;
- Prince Regent National Park, with an area of 5764 square kilometres or 576 400 hectares; and
- Murujuga National Park, with an area of 48.51 square kilometres or 4 851 hectares. This park is managed as a national park in accordance with section 8A of the
Conservation and Land Management Act 1984
. The land is owned in freehold by the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation and managed jointly with the Department of Parks and Wildlife on behalf of the State.
2. Four marine parks have been gazetted since September 2008. These are:
- Walpole and Nornalup Inlets Marine Park, with an area of 14.46 square kilometres or 1 446 hectares;
- Ngari Capes Marine Park, with an area of 1230 square kilometres or 123 000 hectares;
- Camden Sound Marine Park, with an area of 6730 square kilometres or 673 000 hectares; and
- Eighty Mile Beach Marine Park, with an area of 1480 square kilometres or 148 000 hectares.
