(2) India in its current state of development is not considered by Tourism WA to be a priority market, relative to other tourism markets in which it is active. Tourism WA will not redirect any of its current resources to India ahead of its priority markets at this time. The 2006 International Visitor Survey shows that India, with 5,500 visitors, was the 21st largest market for international visitors to Western Australia. This figure represents a market share of only 0.9% of total international visitors to Western Australia. It also needs to be noted that 2,500 of these visitors travelled for business purposes. Only 900 came for holiday/pleasure with a further 1,600 to visit family and relatives (VFR).
