BIRTHS, DEATHS AND MARRIAGES REGISTRATION AMENDMENT(SEX OR
GENDER CHANGES) BILL 2024
381. Hon BEN DAWKINS to the Minister for Women's Interests:
If
a biological man who transitions under the government's proposed births,
deaths and marriages legislation becomes a female by visiting her or his
GP, will that person be classified as a woman for the purposes of the women's
interests portfolio?

I
think it is worth noting that responsibility for any legislation about how
people might be treated in respect to gender identity does not rest with me; it
rests with the Attorney General. Of course, I will always act in accordance
with the law.
