(1) I refer to the racing industry in Western Australia, and ask how many drug tests have been undertaken in each of the years 2009–2010, 2010–2011 and 2011–2012 in relation to:
(a) apprentice jockeys;
(b) other jockeys;
(c) strappers;
(d) stable hands;
(e) trainers; and
(f) other employees in the industry?
(2) In relation to (1), how many possible test samples were positive, for the A sample and the B sample?
(3) In relation to (1), how many people were found to have committed an offence under the doping regime of the industry and what sanction was imposed on each and every person found to have committed an offence under this regime?

(1) (a - f) In accordance with the National Rules of Thoroughbred Racing, the only categories of licensees who are subject to drug testing are Track Riders, Apprentice Jockeys and Jockeys.
For the 2009-2010 season a total of 70 samples were collected as follows:
· 37 Track Riders
· 13 Apprentice Jockeys
· 20 Jockeys
For the 2010-2011season a total of 136 samples were collected as follows:
· 63 Track Riders
· 27 Apprentice Jockeys
· 46 Jockeys
For the 2011-2012 season to date a total of 110 samples have been collected as follows:
· 25 Track Riders
· 22 Apprentices
· 63 Jockeys
(2) - (3) There are no A and B samples. Two samples are collected - one is used to screen for various drugs whilst the second sample is used to confirm any positive finding detected in the first sample. On all occasions the results of the two tests were identical.
2009-2010 season:
· Two Track Riders tested positive to Methamphetamine or Amphetamine and received six (6) months suspensions
· Two Track Riders tested positive to Cannabis and received three (3) month suspensions
· One Jockey tested positive to Cannabis and received a six (6) Month suspension
2010-2011 season:
· One Jockey tested positive to Dex-Amphetamine and received a six (6) month suspension
· One Jockey tested positive to Amphetamine and received a six (6) month suspension
2011-2012 season to date:
Three Apprentice Jockeys tested positive to Methamphetamine or Amphetamine with two receiving six (6) month suspensions and one receiving a nine (9) month suspension
· One Jockey tested positive to Valium and received a two (2) month suspension
· One Jockey tested positive to Benzoylegonine (metabolite of Cocaine) and received a nine (9) months suspension
