cases in which I have been informed that former firearm licence holders have
had their licences cancelled and firearms seized due to past convictions that
are now considered spent.(1) How many licence holders have had their licence
cancelled on the basis of spent convictions?(2) How many licence holders have had their
firearms seized on the basis of spent convictions?(3) Will the minister provide a list of the categories

Minister for the Environment, I thank the honourable member for some notice of
the question. I provide the following answer on behalf of the Minister for
Police.(1) Firearm licences are automatically cancelled
if the offence is considered a mandatory disqualifying offence, regardless of
whether or not the convictions are spent, and the disqualifying period is still
current.(2) There have been 495 individuals who have been
subject to firearm licence revocations as a result of an MDO, with a total of 1,383
firearms seized.(3) The offence remains relevant even if it is a
spent conviction under section 11(3) of theFirearms
Act 2024. A list of mandatory disqualifying offences are in tabular form,
so I seek leave to have that part incorporated intoHansard.Leave granted for
