ANKETELL DEEP WATER PORT
I refer to negotiations on the Anketell deep water port and the concerns of the traditional owners in the area that it is the intention of the Barnett government to compulsorily acquire this land in the same way as James Price Point. (1) Is the Attorney General in receipt of any advice about the concerns of the traditional owners, the Ngarluma people, about inadequate consultation? (2) Can the Attorney General give assurances to the traditional owners that he intends to act in good faith, not proceed to compulsory acquisition and is prepared to enter into meaningful negotiations? Hon NORMAN MOORE

I think the question got confused in the translation. The question I have is directed to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for State Development, and the Attorney General is not part of the answer. On behalf of the Minister for State Development, I provide the following response — (1)–(2) The government has been in consultation with the Ngarluma people for many months and will continue to have meaningful discussions to progress the project and achieve an outcome that is beneficial to all parties.
