ANNALIESSE UGLE
919. Mr
P.A. KATSAMBANIS to the Minister for Police:
I have a supplementary question.
Will the minister now join with the Liberal Party and convince her cabinet
colleagues to support an ''Annaliesse Ugle's law'' to
prevent a terrible tragedy like this from happening again?

AnswerView source ↗

I am well aware of the heartache
that the family has experienced. I am also aware that a coronial inquest is
likely. I think it is appropriate that we deal with this in a considered way
and in a way that benefits not only Annaliesse's family, but also other families who may go through
similar trauma. This has been a deeply traumatic event for many in the community, and I appreciate that. As the
member well knows, there is no time to introduce new laws this year , and
I think it is appropriate that we put in place the best possible measures and
that we give those measures proper consideration. That is what we will do on
behalf of the whole community.
