With regard to providing the level of detail requested by the member, the Western Australia Police Service has provided the following response: “It is estimated that to provide the requested statistical information will take a minimum of seven hours per specific request. Given the costs and the imposition on police resources associated with the processing of this request, the Police Service is most reluctant to commit resources to this purpose, especially when those resources could be directed to supporting the many needs of operational police.” To fully answer all of the 28 similar questions asked by the Member would deprive frontline police officers of 196 hours of operational support. With respect to the suburb of Baldivis, the Police Service advise that there has been a total of 90 reported burglary offences pertaining to private dwellings between 10 February 2001 and 31 October 2003. If there is a particular issue pertaining to a particular suburb, I will request that the level of detail sought by the member is provided for that particular suburb, providing that the Police Service are satisfied the diversion of resources away from operational policing is not unreasonable.
