enterprises or boards within the Minister’s portfolio responsibilities, and I ask: (a) How many sick days were taken over the periods: (i) 1 March 2016 to 28 February 2017; (ii) 1
March 2017 to 28 February 2018; and (iii) 1 March 2018 to 28 February 2019?

This answer covers multiple Ministers’ portfolios, including Disability Services, Seniors and Ageing, Volunteering, Housing, Veterans Issues, Youth, as well as my Child Protection, Women’s Interests, Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence and Community Services portfolios.
This answer also encompasses the Department of Communities and the legacy agencies whose functions were amalgamated into the Department of Communities from 1 July 2017.
(a)   The amount of sick leave taken by Department of Communities staff over the requested periods are as follows:
(i) 420,246 hours, equating to approximately 56,033 days
(ii) 441,853 hours, equating to approximately 58,914 days
(iii) 439,016 hours, equating to approximately 58,535 days
Please note, the Department of Communities calculates sick leave on an hourly basis. Actual hours taken as sick leave have been converted into days based on a standard, full time working day (7.5 hours).
