I thank the member for the question. (1)-(2) The Independent Market Operator has advised me that certainly for the forthcoming summer, we have sufficient capacity to get us through the summer months. What has happened as a result of Varanus Island is that we have had to bring on Muja A-B and Kwinana. The delay of the Boddington goldmine has assisted us in this process. Varanus did have its implications, although that should be up to full capacity by the end of December, or about then. In terms of two years hence, no minister can provide guaranteed energy supply. It would be totally irresponsible of me to stand here and say, yes, I can guarantee supply. Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich interjected. Hon PETER COLLIER : I simply cannot guarantee supply; and, as I have said, it would be totally irresponsible of me to do so. Certainly for the forthcoming summer, the advice I received is that, yes, we do have sufficient capacity. Certainly as far as I am concerned as the new Minister for Energy, energy security is pivotal. I will stand on the notion that energy security will be my top priority—that is, providing long-term, safe and reliable energy supplies for Western Australia. The policy to ensure that long-term capacity will be forthcoming over the next six to 12 months. I am seeking advice from a wide range of sources, both government and industry, on how we should go about developing that policy. I am very enamoured by the prospect of offering more opportunities for renewable energy. I am about to till the soil on another new peak power plant at Neerabup. That will take place tomorrow. I opened the NuGen power plant at Kwinana a month ago. Certainly in terms of capacity, we are developing that as a state. In terms of long-term security, as I have said, that is very high on my agenda, and over the next three to six months I will be seeking further advice with the very real intent of developing a long-term strategy for energy security throughout Western Australia.
